Potential Energy Mentoring

We invited Potential Energy over to our HQ to teach them about FTC. First, we talked about how to do well in tournaments and how they function. We also gave them a tour of HQ, showed them our robot, and gave advice on robots. Along with this, we also showed them a bit of our programming to give them a sense of what it’s like. After we talked to them about tournaments, robot, and programming they were very eager to ask questions. We answered them all with as much detail as we could. They were very excited to compete in person this year, and it was a great experience to be able to share this with them.

HPM Demo and Tour

Demo

At this event, we went to Herold Precision Metals (HPM) to present about FIRST and demo our robot to several engineers that work there. At the beginning of the demo, we started off by presenting about our team and about the season, what FIRST is, how it works, and how to help in the FTC community. After the presentation, we demoed our robot to the engineers. We showed them how the robot works, how it completes missions, custom parts on our robot, and our EN documentation. They seemed very interested in FIRST and asked many questions about it and our robot.

Tour

After our team demoed to HPM engineers we got a tour of their facilities. We got to see many of their advanced pieces of equipment in action like a high-powered laser cutter and a metal shaping machine. It was very interesting to see one aspect of STEM in the professional world, and our team really enjoyed touring HPM.

LEGO Sorting

We had lots of fun sorting legos for all the FLL Junior kits. It is good to know that many FLL Junior teams will now have legos to use with all the things they need for the season. This event was very beneficial in its impact on these teams that will now have legos to work with for the season.

FIRST Demo at Hayes Elementary

We went to Hayes Elementary to Demo about FIRST and engineering. During our time there we set up stations for FLL Jr. FLL, and FTC. The kids then went around each of the stations to learn more about FIRST and the different types. They got to drive our FTC robot through obstacles, program our FLL robot to complete many missions, and learn more about FLL Jr. Overall, the demo went really well. The kids loved the FTC robot and they all got driver’s licenses. Also, the kids had lots of fun learning more about FIRST.
